    Robert M. Evanson got his first ride in a Ford Tri-Motor in 1927 (or -28) at a Carl Eielson homecoming celebration ten miles north of his home town. At 19-20 he built p-38 wings at Lockheed and became a B-24 radio operator and gunner (Sperry Ball Turret). Did 40 missions in the Pacific Theatre operating out of New Guinea Dutch East Indies; Palau group; Leyte, Samar and Luzon in Philippians and Okinawa. Main targets Formosa and China. Last mission after nuclear bomb over Japan Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Yokohama and Tokyo (Reco) at low altitude B-24.
