I've spent 25 years enjoying and covering aviation from the cockpit...flying vintage bi-planes, state-of-the-art jet fighters, WWII bombers, commercial passenger jets and modern aerobatic airplanes.
I was a national semi-finalist for the 'journalist-in-space' program until the program was cancelled because of the Challenger explosion.
Aviation highlights include flying the EAA's spirit of St. Louis replica with Charlie Hilliard Jr, golfing with Alan Shepard, aerobatics with Jan Collmer and Art Scholl, cross country and arrival airshow with the USAF Thunderbirds, interviewing Chuck Yeager, Alan Bean, and Bob Hoover, 1 hour and 20 minutes of stick and throttle in the F-16, Blue Angel. Aerobatics in the A-4 and F-18, dogfighting in F-4's, formation flying with my dad over South Dakota, and emceeing the Vietnam P-O-W Silver Anniversary of Freedom Gala.
