In enlisted in the US Army in February 1968 and served two tours of duty in the Republic of South Vietnam from November 25, 1968 to October 31, 1970.

I received the Distinguished Flying Cross for deeds accomplished in aerial flight on February 14, 1969 during an emergency medical evacuation (Dustoff) of Korean infantrymen, south of DaNang, Republic of Vietnam. The part that was not included in the citation -- I was 19 years old and scared to death! I'm also proud of the fact that I received 23 Air Medals in 10 months of aerial flight!
