    Robert R. Lynn, PE, CEng, FRAeS began his professional career in 1950 as a draftsman with the Bell Aircraft Corporation, where his assignments included project engineer, chief of Research & Development, director of test and evaluation, and director of design engineering. He retired in 1991 as Senior Vice President - Research and Engineering, Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. Fort Worth, Texas USA.

    Lynn, who received his MSAE from Princeton University, is a registered professional engineer in Texas, a chartered engineer in Great Britain, and a Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). In the American Helicopter Society (AHS) he held the offices of Technical Director and President and as an Honorary Fellow he received the Klemin Award and the Nikolsky Lectureship.

    He has more than 40 publications and holds multiple patents, and has served many organizations including National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the US Army, Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development (AGARD), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). After his retirement from Bell Helicopter he became a member in 1995 of the FAA's Technical Oversight Group for Aging Aircraft (TOGAA). In 1996 he presented the Juan Cierva Lecture to the RAeS. Recently, he received the FAA Award for Extraordinary Service for his participation with TOGAA..
