    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Lindy's courageous solo flight from New York to Paris foreshadowed the choice of my life's work. From the building and contest flying of model airplanes to graduation from Wentworth Institute in 1941, I followed my dream. My Certificate was for Aircraft
: Construction and Design. First industrial work before and through WW2 was as a Senior Aircraft Inspector and Planner on land and water based military aircraft. At the Glenn L. Martin Co.

After that war, Martin converted to commercial airliners and advanced military types when I entered the design staff as a layout draftsman. Next employment was as a lead designer with the Bendix Radio Div, where I was involved
5 with Airport Radar Systems and other commercial radio projects. The opportunity to work on a jet powered seaplane drew me back to Martin Marietta where I designed power plant and fueling equipment for the Seamaster and then instrumentation on the Gemini Launch Vehicle.

Leaving Martin, I joined Washington Technological Associates where I developed a variety of mechanical systems. Among my major projects was the design of experimental scientific devices for the Aerobee and several other Sounding Rockets. Field-work included at Wallops Island and White Sands, N.M. Missile Range. Major mechanical projects under my direction included Auxiliary Cranes for Nuclear Power Plants and industrial processing equipment for automobiles After eighteen years at WTA/Quanta Systems Corp. I joined a subsidiary of General Electric for my final employment. Serving as Senior Design Leader, I supervised several designers on Satellites, Space Shuttle, Sounding Rocket and Balloon payloads. Several projects included ground support and test structures for Goddard Space Flight Center. In 1992, I received an honorary degree, Bachelor of Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Later that year, I retired after fifty years of service to the scientific community.
