While employed with Bristol Aerojets in England, Ron Lucas contributed to the development of the "Skylark" series of Sounding Rockets. The series of rockets that Mr. Lucas worked on were developed for the Italian government in 1963. In total, the Skylark rocket program spanned 50 years with the last Rocket launched in May, 2005. At that time, the Sklyark program was described as one of the most successful rocket programs of all time.

Ronald Lucas moved to the United States in the mid-1960s and continued his professional career with an engineering company in Massachusetts. His contributions to aviation and space exploration continued with his work on the Apollo 13 mission and with the improvement of aircraft safety.
