    Served as an F-100 pilot of the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievements while participating in tactical missions when the Viet Cong were attempting to cut South Vietnam in half, Quang Ngai Offensive. Beginning the end of May, 1965, then Captain Green flew day and night missions for four days and three nights to help stop this attack.

    Captain Green also was awarded eleven Air Medals for participating: in 232 missions over North Vietnam, Laos and South Vietnam. He returned for a third tour in 1973 when he added another
    60 missions flying the F-4 over Cambodia. In all, he flew 292 missions without being hit. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1975 and retired In I980.
