Roy, known by friends as Chip, is a flying enthusiast. After retiring from the Navy with a distinguished career as an officer, he pursued his love of flying. He is now a well-respected flight instructor. In his "spare" time, Chip flies Angel Flight missions; these flights help transport those with illnesses to distant health facilities.
A person who loves to fly has a unique perspective when in the air. The beauty and serenity of God's world never ceases to put this pilot in awe. He often quotes a line from the poem "High Flight" when asked to describe his emotions while flying, "I put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
