    From an early age, Roy Hammock wanted to be a pilot. After high school, he was accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy, from where he graduated in 1964. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he fulfilled that dream.

    In 1966, he was sent to Viet Nam with HMM 262. Over the next 13 months he spent time with HMM 262, HMM 265 and MAG 16. During his tour in Viet Nam, he flew many combat missions primarily in the CH-46.

    In December id 1967, he returned home. He then served as a flight instructor for the marines in Pensacola until his discharge in 1969. His love of aviation continues today.
