    ACTIVE DUTY US AIR FORCE
    January 1953 - Entered Flight Training in the USAF. Graduated in April 1954.
    Trained in the PA-18, T-6, T-28 and T-33.

    May 1954 - Trained in the F-86 Sabre at Nellis AFB. Graduated in August 1954.

    September 1954 through April 1957 - Based in Germany and France, where I flew F-86F's and F-86H's, under Major "Chuck" Yeager's first squadron command.

    October 1961 - DCANG called to active duty over the "Berlin Crisis" when flying the
    F-l00 Super Sabre. August 1962 - Released from active duty and back to "Guard" status.
    Summary: Five years and four months of USAF active duty, plus numerous periods of active duty for training while in the AIR NATIONAL GUARD, all of which totaled 11 years and 5 months active duty.
    AIR NATIONAL GUARD
    April 1957 - Separated from active duty and soon joined the Virginia Air National Guard (VaANG). Flew B-26's until November 1958 (18 months), then transferred to DCANG where I flew F-86H's until November 1960 at which time I transitioned in the F-l00C. I then flew the F-l00C through March 1964.
    March 1965 - Rejoined the Virginia ANG as a full time flight training instructor in the F-84F (full time through September 1966) and continued part time through 1972, at which time I transferred to the USAF Reserve and retired in May 1993.
    COMMERCIAL AVIATION
    September 1966 - Joined Eastern Airlines. Flew the CV440, L188, numerous models of the DC-9 and numerous models of the B-727. Last 3 years w/EAL was "check airman" as well as "line pilot". Retired from EAL in March 1990.
    FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION
    September 1958 through November 1962 - Air Traffic Controller. During this time, I also flew in the ANG. November 1962 through September 1966 - Facilities Flight Check Pilot and also flew in the ANG. September 1990 through May 1994 - Aviation Safety Inspector (pilot).
    During my aviation career, I accumulated more than 16,500 hours of flight time.
