Dr. Yeralan has contributed to the world of aviation and space exploration by conducting scientific research in the areas of combustion science and propulsion. He and his coworkers developed laser diagnostics and optical tools to obtain important combustion characteristics such as temperature and species distribution within the combustion zone.

Among many research efforts, he is well recognized for his work with opposed jet flame studies and rocket combustion diagnostics. While opposed jet flame studies supported fundamental understanding of combustion science, rocket combustion studies provided insight into the effects of injector design for enhanced propellant mixing.

Dr. Yeralan is continuing his involvement in combustion research and generating knowledge and understanding of complex flame structures and their applications.
