    Mr. John Pashley

Fred was born on July 28,1922 and graduated in June of 1940 from the Town of Webb schools in Old Forge, NY. He enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps on December 10,1941, three days after Pearl Harbor was attacked, and attained the rank of Sergeant with the 16th Photo Squadron as crew chief on a C-45. The missions that he flew on included flights down the Aleutian Islands. The entire crew died when the plane crashed during a snowstorm in the mountains of northern California on April 4,1945. The crash site was found nearly a year later and Fred was interred at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Francisco, CA. Ironically, two years after the crash, Fred's older brother, Charles, had a son, John Frederick, born on April 5th. The Covey-Pashley Post in Old Forge, NY had two evergreen trees planted in front of the school to commemorate the community's servicemen who died in connection with WWI and WWII.
