    Sergeant Richard H. Sabey was born on November 20, 1923 in Chicago, IL. Sabey was an airborne radio technician for B-29s with the 9th Bomb Group, 99th Bomb Squadron, 313th Wing, 20th Air Force on Tinian Island and the Mariana Islands. His family admires his love of aircraft, specifically the nose art titled "Daring Donna" that he painted on a B-29 while stationed on Tinian Island. Richard H. Sabey was discharged in 1945 with the rank of sergeant.
    His awards and medals include the Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three stars, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He spent his life working as a commercial artist and art director, raising a beautiful family of 9 children with his wife, Eleanor, and spreading his love of aviation through building and painting model airplanes. He was an active member of American Legion, VFW, Air Force Association, 9th BG Association, 20th AF Association, McCook Air Base Society and Danish Brotherhood until he passed away in 2006. Richard H. Sabey was extremely proud of having served with the men of the 9th BG, 20th AF in WWII. "God Bless America"
