Born 06 Aug 1919, Walter (Walt) began as a machinist for the Ford Motor Company in Michigan. Walt enlisted in the Army after the outbreak of WWII, and served in the US Army Air Forces in the Pacific theater. During the war he worked as an electrician, but also helped advance variable pitch prop technology for bombers. He was stationed in Southern California for a portion of the war, followed by deployments to both the Philippines and Japan. He continued his service though the end of the war, and eventually rose to the rank of Sergeant. As an avid lover of all things mechanized (cars, motorcycles, planes), he went on to run a large scale tooling company that worked closely with each of the Big Three automotive manufacturers. After retiring, he moved to Arizona where he stayed until his passing on 16 Aug 2009. He is remembered as a loving father and grandfather who could fix anything.
Walt is currently survived by his two sons, and 3 grandchildren.
