Born in 1974, Shane Hugh Medford's dream of flying began as a child. Stories of his father, the late Dr. Hugh Medford, flying in WWII and the wallpaper in his childhood bedroom filled with airplanes started his interest. Shane began his aviation career in 1992. He acquired his Airmen's certificates throughout high school and college along with his Airframe & Power plant Certificates from Rice Aviation in Houston, Texas. Shane joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and became an Aircraft Hydraulics Mechanic. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics. In April 2000, he began his professional career with ExpressJet Airlines as a first officer on the Beechcraft 1900. By early 2002, Shane was upgraded to Captain. Shane is an active member of the Airline Pilots Association.
