    'Pete' Hennessey, born in London, England joined the Royal Air Force shortly after the outbreak of WWII. He completed his basic and advanced flying training at the British Flying School in Ponca City, OK. Returning to the UK he trained as a night fighter pilot first on Beaufighters then the DH Mosquito. After the war he completed a distinguished career in the Royal Air Force as Commanding Officer of RAF Honnington. During his career in the RAF he served on 50 SQN flying Canberras, 148 SQN flying Valiants (during which he led bombing raids on Cairo in 1956) and XV SQN flying HP Victors.
