Wally was born in Cordell, Oklahoma 4-25-1926. He served in WW II and was recalled into the Korean War from Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. (He was attending the University of Oklahoma at the time) an Eagle Scout. He was Flight Engineer on B-29, a plane he loved. On his last mission, the B-29, with a full bomb load and fuel, lost 2 engines on takeoff. At 350 feet, the pilot jumped first. Wally went to the controls and kept the plane steady so the crew could escape. He went down with the plane. He was 26 years old. Survived are: wife Betty and 2 sons – Randall (age 3) and Scott (age 1).
