    Enlisted in Air Corps Sept, 1942.
    Discharged May, 1945 after serving 65 missions as a Bombardier on a B-26.
    Citations include Distinguished Flying Cross in area of Cherbourg, France on June 26, 1944.
    On Dec 24, 1944 at height of German counterattack in the Ardennes Sector, Ragland’s B-26 group bombed a vital bridge over the Moselle River at Eller, Germany and only 9 of the 36 planes in our formation survived the mission. On Jan 13, 1945 just north of Bastogne, France during the German counterattack in the Ardennes – forced to bail out on 63rd mission – plane had only 1 failing engine left – landed on French farmhouse near American lines – was assisted by French farmer.
