Stephen E. Garay spent two years of active duty in the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of 2nd Lt. and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas.
While serving in the Air Force, he was a Training Officer and taught Military Law. He was an outstanding athlete in both High School and College. While in the Air Force, he was named All-Air Force in both baseball and basketball.
