    Attended the Aviation Program at Western Michigan University. Received A&P Certificate in 1972 and used it to put himself through school, graduating in 1976. Worked as a field service engineer with Bendix Corp. on the F-15/F-16 fuel controls. Transitioned into the field of airport management, obtaining positions from 1979 – 1991 at Kalamazoo, MI; Fayetteville, NC; Athens, GA; again Kalamazoo, MI; and lastly Bridgeport, CT. Received Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) status with the American Association of Airport Executives.
    Transitioned into the education field in 1991as a professor of aviation studies at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, having previously taught at WMU and University of New Haven. Mr. Quilty is the author of numerous training and education courses for AAAE and has traveled extensively conducting airport education workshops. A private pilot, Mr. Quilty has been a long time member and supporter of EAA, AOPA, NATA, NBAA, AAAE and the Air & Space Museum. Married Kathleen S. O’Lenic in 1991 and lives in Perrysburg, Ohio.
