Mr. Treon was employed at the NACA-NASA Ames Research Center from March 1948 until January 1981 when he retired after 36 years of U.S. federal service. His technical career was focused on experimental aerodynamics and subsequently on the management of a wide array of wind tunnels. Included were extensive investigations of civil and military aircraft and space-related vehicles, notably the Space Shuttle. He was an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), a member of numerous technical committees, and was the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) designee for cooperative wind tunnel research with Britain (BAE) and France (Onera).
