Sue was born in New Jersey and graduated from Piscataway High School. She lost her battle with cancer in 2006. Sue had a long-time passion of being a Flight Attendant, saying she wanted to travel - she followed her dream. She was hired by Piedmont Airlines in November, 1969, continuing to fly with US Air and US Airways until her retirement in November, 2005: 36 years! Her introduction to International flying was with the British Airways "Wet Lease" program - a passion she continued to nurture by flying with US Airways International division. Sue touched many people in that time, truly making a difference in other's lives.

Sue served as the Master Executive Council President for the Association of Flight Attendants, striving to create a better working environment for her colleagues. She and several of her flight attendant colleagues initiated the In-flight Services Committee and tested the first versions of today's serving carts.

If you looked up "traveler" in the dictionary, Sue's picture would be the perfect definition. She loved and lived to travel. She went places all over the world including the Far East, Russia (then the Soviet Union), Australia and Egypt. She traveled on the Orient Express, transited the Panama Canal, and traveled on a boat on the rivers of France. Sue had a desire to see as much as she could when she arrived in a new destination, always ready to discover a new bit of history or culture. When traveling with friends and family she was quite happy to assume the role of Tour Guide, complete with umbrella held high so no one would get lost!

She was loved by many, including those members of her Flight Attendant family as well as long-time friends from childhood. She met people at work on the aircraft; when vacationing; through the Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center; her cancer support groups; and in many other venues. Her ability to make and keep friends was unmatched by anyone.

Sue was honored after her death by being awarded the Outstanding Legacy Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Sue's estate planning included gifts to four of her favorite charities: Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region; The North Carolina Dance Theater; Buddy Kemp Caring House; and Presbyterian Cancer Centers.
