    Employed by Curtiss-Wright Flying Service (CWFS) 1929-1931 and Braniff Airways (BNF) 1931-1950. Earned limited commercial pilot's license with CWFS and logged time in Curtiss-Wright Fledgling/Robin/Junior, OX-5 Travelaire, Waco 9/10 and Commandaire, Hisso Standard, Gypsy Moth, Buhl Pup, Inland, Fairchild 22, and Monocoupe.

    Worked up from licensed mechanic to Superintendent of Maintenance with BNF, on Lockheed 5 Vega and 10 Electra and Douglas DC-2/3 pre-World War II (WWII), and modification and acceptance of Douglas C-54s to DC-4s and new DC-6s post-WWII.

    Involved in BNF contract route to Panama Canal Zone dubbed "Banana Run" during WWII (flying double the trips per plane as Pan American (PanAm)).

    Encountered some noted aviation personalities, including Wiley Post, Will Rogers, Jimmy Mathern, Jimmy Doolittle, Walter Beech, Donald Douglas Jr, and Sr.
