Early interest in aviation while growing upon North-Central Ohio in 1920s & 1930s. Visited Cleveland Air Races several times (saw Jimmy Doolittle win in BeeGee Special) and Goodyear Akron Dirigible Hanger ( saw Akron and Macon airships). Enlisted in Army Air Corps upon eighteenth birthday in 1944 (Aviation Cadet Program. Honorably discharged in 1946.
