Thomas S. Raup was born and raised in Northern Virginia. He spent his early-years fascinated with the subjects of flight and space. In 1972 Tom's family moved to Europe and he experienced his first thrilling airline flight. Tom attended Bitburg American High School at Bitburg Air Force Base, Germany, where he spent many hours watching the U.S. Air Force jets take flight. Tom's stay in Europe included many exciting plane trips including flying over the Alps in a fierce storm and landing in Iceland in the middle of a blizzard. He moved back to Virginia in 1976 where he attended college at Radford University. Tom now works at American Systems Corporation, a successful company that supports the proud efforts of our government and military. Tom married his beautiful high school sweetheart, Joanne. To this date, Tom is still fascinated with flight and space and he is honored to support the National Air and Space Museum.
