    Thomas V. Howard Jr. graduated from Texas A&M University in 1959 with a BBA degree in Business Administration. Tom served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1966 as a Captain in the Air Force. In 1966, he began his career with Braniff Airlines as an engineer. He was a Co-Pilot from 1966-1977, then flew as Captain from 1978 until Braniff's bankruptcy in 1982. From 1982-1987, he flew with several carriers including Muse Air, then flew with Continental Airlines from 1987 until his retirement in 2000. Notable achievements include successfully landing a troubled Continental flight in April 1994; when the landing gear of the 727 jet wouldn't dislodge, Tom controlled the plane to safely land the 141 passengers and a crew of 7 without injury. He is a member of Ducks Unlimited and of BISE Braniff International Silver Eagles. He attends both the Catholic parishes of St. Luke's and the University of Dallas, both in Dallas, TX. In his retirement, he enjoys hunting, golf and his dog B!ud.
    Tom lives in Irving, Texas with his wife of 44 years. He has three children and five grandchildren, and all of his family is proud of his aviation accomplishments.
