Mr. Robert N. Schmidt
Mr. Troy Prince has been chosen for the National Aviation and Space Exploration Wall of Honor due to his contributions to the exploration of space and advancements and inventions of improved aircraft control. Mr. Prince is the Director of Active Flow Control Systems at Orbital Research Inc., a company dedicated to the development of improved aircraft and spacecraft systems.
Mr. Prince has played a lead role in the development of the Deployable Flow Control Devices and their associated microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices for controlling boundary layer flow on air/water vehicles. He directs the Orbital Research team in the development of active flow closed loop control systems, thrust vectoring, combining MEMS actuators and sensors, and suction control of aerodynamic surfaces. He has also assisted with the creation and testing of improved algorithms for flight control, path planning, and flocking and swarming of air/space vehicles. Prior to joining Orbital Research, Inc., Mr. Prince was responsible for the design and fabrication of space flight hardware for the NASA Center for Commercialization of Space at Case Western Reserve University.
