    Charles Pickelhaupt enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942. Trained as an Aircraft Electrician he worked on B-17s in North Africa and Foggia, Italy. He left the service in 1945 and was recalled in 1950. He served at Hill AFB in Utah; Neubiberg AFB in Munich, Germany 1952-1956; Selfridge AFB in Michigan, 1956-1958; RAF Bovingdon, England 1958-1962 (where he helped maintain the B-17s used for the movie “The War Lover”) and Dow AFB in Bangor, Maine 1962-1967.
    He retired in 1967 to Port Huron, Michigan and passed away December 20, 1999. He loved the Air Force!
