Joseph J. Loftus was born 5 February 1923, Syracuse, New York. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps from January 1943 to October 1945. He was with the 8th Air Force, 40th Combat Bomb Wing, 92nd Bomb Group (H) "Fames Favored Few" with the 325th Squadron stationed at Podington Airfield, Bedfordshire, England. He was a TSgt, the Chief Operations Clerk for the 325th Squadron.
