Enlisted Oct. 1942 as a private. Completed aircraft mechanic school, and then accepted in the Aviation Cadet program. Upon completion of this program was awarded pilots silver wings and a commission as a Second Lieutenant. After completing B-17 transition and crew training was assigned to the 463rd Bomb Group, 774th Squadron in Foggia, Italy and completed 57 combat missions over Europe, most of which were as Squadron Leader and Flight Commander. Married to the same woman for 59 years with 6 grandchildren and« three great grandchildren. Retired locomotive engineer on steam and diesel engines.
