    Vi Cowden (WASP) Women Air Force Service Pilot. One of 1074 women who received her wings. These women were the first Women to fly Military Aircraft during WWII. She trained in Sweetwater Texas and was stationed at Love Field Dallas, Texas in the air transport command flying aircraft from the factories to training fields and points of debarkation. Received her instrument rating and was qualified to fly nineteen different types of aircraft. Trained to fly pursuit planes, P-40, P-47, P-63, P-39 and her favorite the P-51. Flew for the Military 1943-1944 and received her veterans benefits in 1969.
