    Hamlin was graduated from GA Tech as a Ch. E in the fall of 1962. Because he had completed AF ROTC he was assigned to Moody AFB for Undergraduate Pilot Training in the T-37 and the T-33. Upon graduation he was assigned to McDill AFB in the F-4C in the rear cockpit with an end assignment of Ubon RTAFB. During his year at Ubon he returned to Davis Monthan AFB to complete upgrade training in the front seat. Subsequently he was assigned to Cam Ran Bay, S. Vietnam where he accomplished 100 missions over N. Vietnam.

    Next he was assigned to Bitburg, GE. Shortly after arriving he was deployed to Wheelis AFB, Libya where he lost his life in a training mishap on 7 February 1967.

    His awards include the DFC w/ OLC (heroism), AM w/ 8 OLC and other awards.
