    Honored by:
    Mr. Leon Scarbrough Jr.

At the age of 20 I was drafted into the Army Quartermaster Corp, and was sent to the 29th Car Battalion in Honolulu, Hawaii for approximately three years. After Workd War II ended I returned to my wife, Marie, in my hometown of Shelbyville, Illinois. I returned to Lincoln Jr. College ro further my education. In 1947, I entered the University of Houston located in Houston, Texas to complete my degree in Architecture.
In 1951 I went to work for TEMCO (Texas Engineering and Manufacturing Company) located in Grand Prairie, Texas where North American Aircraft manufactured the well known P51 aircraft during World War II. During the eighteen years I spent with Temco, I worked as an electrical design engineer, then assistant program manager of the T 35 aircraft that was hopefully to be bought by the U.S. Navy for training of cadet aviators. This goal was not obtained, but the company sold 30 aircraft to Saudi Arabia to train their cadets. TEMCO also received a contract to modify 15 P 51's from the Air Force to modify those aircraft to a tandem configuration for training cadets.
In 1957 the U.S. Navy came out with a new requirement for a tricycle configured airplane to enter the cadet training syllabus. TEMCO entered this requirement with the Plebe aircraft. The Navy procured the aircraft for evaluation. I was the assistant manager for this program when the Navy decided to go all out for a Navy jet trainer. TEMCO decided to enter this competition by entering their TT-1 aircraft. The Navy procured 15 of the TT-1's and they had an evaluation at Pensacola, Florida. After approximately a eyar the Navy chose the side by side configuration instead of the TT-1 tandem configuration.
I was asked to join the Aircraft Sales Department of TEMCO and spent a lot of time in Washington, D.C.
I left TEMCO to join a Laser Manufacture Company and then I joined BKM Company where we designed, manufactured, and sold improvements for military and corporate jet aircraft.
    I retired in 1987
