    S/Sgt Wallace B. McGaughey was a member of the Eighth Air Force. He served as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 in the 381st B.G. 532nd Squad, 1st Wing. He completed 25 missions from 6/22/1943 to 11/16/1943, was credited with destruction of two enemy aircraft. He was stationed in England at Ridgewell Air Base, Station 167, Essex County, near village of Great Yeldom. Crew flew on 1st Schweinfurt mission on 8/17/1943. Sixty-one B-17s lost that day. The 381st lost 11 B-17s.
