    Wallace Eldon Maxwell was born near Ft. Worth, TX on Jan 10, 1913. He grew up on a small farm and attended Texas A&M University. He worked around East Texas as an aircraft mechanic and earned his private pilot’s license. During WW II, he went to work for Lockheed International and worked as a mechanic in England and Ireland, keeping the troops flying. After the war, he relocated, along with a sister and brother-in-law to Shreveport, LA, where he worked at a local fixed base operator at the Shreveport Downtown Airport. He and his brother-in-law, Sam Ketchum, bought the business and operated it as Southern Aviation for 30 years. He died on Jan 21, 1989.
