Wallace Grant Maurer was born in Akron, Ohio on August 24, 1920, but lived most of his life in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He is the loving husband of Carole, a wonderful father of Kathy, Tim, Tom, Patty, Ken, and Dave, and cheerful grandfather to many more. Wally served his love of art and science through his children by taking then fishing early in the morning, painting holiday scenes on home mirrors, and allowing them to stay up late into the night to watch the stars and planets pass overhead. He welcomes mankind’s achievements in space exploration and astronomy with childlike joy and amazement.
