    Employed in aviation almost 40 years. He served in the Air force from 1963-1984 in various capacities overseas and at Ellsworth AFB as a missile crew commander, Chief of Operational Readiness and Training (Airborne Missile Operations). After Roy retired from the military he worked for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University from 1988 to 2003 as a Center or Regional Director of University Operations.
