Checked out and qualified in the F-86D at Clark AB, Philippine Islands in 1956. Assigned to 26th Fighter Interceptor Squadron 1956-1958. Flew combat air patrols over Formosan Straits during Quemoy-Matsu incident, September 1958.
Flew 172 missions over North and South Vietnam as a photo recon pilot in the RF-101 Voodoo from October 1966 to June 1967. Assigned to Detachment One, 45th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron at Tan Son Nhut AB, Saigon, Vietnam.
Final Air Force assignment served as Special Assistant for Research and Development, Legislative Liaison, Pentagon, 1972-1975.
