Wayne G. Ahlers is a life-long aviation enthusiast. He is an avid collector of aviation art and a prolific scale modeler.
Professionally he was an Engineering Manager for the U.S. Army. Aviation projects included the M-117, Mk-82 bombs, the M904 and M905 mechanical bomb fuses during the Viet Nam conflict. Followed by the Family of Scatterable Mines program which included the Gator mine delivered by the Air Force and Navy attack aircraft and the Volcano mine delivered by the Army Blackhawk helicopter.
In the latter part of his career was active in DARPA programs involving the remote detection and classification of helicopters.
