William C. Jennings is added to the Wall of Honor by his children to commemorate his three years as a pilot for the US Navy. Jennings received his commission as Ensign in June 1955 upon graduation from the Navy ROTC program at the University of Rochester. He began flight training at Pensacola in July and made his first solo flight on October 25, 1955. He transferred to Kingsville, Texas and completed training with the S2F (Grumman anti-submarine warfare aircraft) in September 1956. He officially received his Navy Wings in October 1956, pinned on by his Mother, Marjorie. Jennings piloted the S2F from the carriers USS Tarawa and USS Lake Champlain over the next two years while stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island.
