Dr. O'Connor spent 18 years with the Civil Aeronautics Board dealing with agreements for airline service between the U.S. and foreign countries and, later, as Assistant Division Chief, with charter flights and other aspects of air service. His doctoral dissertation, later published as a book, concerned international airline regulation. He then was professor of airline management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where, in addition to teaching, he helped establish new undergraduate and masters courses. His textbook on airline economics has been used in many colleges in six editions in 26 years.
