William G. Dukek, Jr., from Exxon Research and Engineering Company, participated in a NASA/DOD jet fuel study in the 1980s. The study examined jet fuel costs and the quantity of fuel which could be produced as a function of jet fuel properties. Dukek, Exxon's "Mr. Jet Fuel" selected the properties of the fuels studied
