Bill (Mac) McNamara was born in 1943 and at a young age developed an intense interest in aviation. At first building static airplane models, progressing to gas powered flying models, and continuing into later life with sophisticated RC models. As a teenager he served several years in the Civil Air Patrol, and in college pursued a major in Aeronautical Engineering, eventually achieving a Master of Science degree, and also became a licensed private pilot. Professionally, as a civilian he worked more than 40 years for the US Navy at the Patuxent River Naval Air Test Center in Maryland. As a flight test engineer, he specified test criteria, conducted flight simulations, and evaluated actual flight qualities for many of today's front line Naval aircraft.
He retired from Federal Service in 2005, lives in Maryland with his wife, Diane, and has raised 4 daughters, all now grown.
