Flew a combat tour in Europe during WW2. After returning to the states, was assigned to several units and training units. Was lucky enough to be assigned to one of the new JET units at March AFB. Later was one of 7 sent to Japan to activate one of the P51 units there to the F80 as it was called then. Back to the states, more P51s until Korea. Back to Japan as one of a group of 51 jocks. Was back in Jets after a former commander saw me, said needed more in 80s than 51s.
Completed 100 missions and returned state side. Assigned to state side unit in jets until decided my wife and children need me at home than the USAF did. Enjoyed my flying and combat, too old to do anything in air now.
