    Mr. Paul D. Flanagan

William M. "Bill" Flanagan's first aircraft had two wings and his last one had two floors.
He flew dive bombers and transports for the Navy during WWII and retired after 28 years with TWA in 1971 as Captain of a Boeing 747. He served as Check Pilot briefly, but valued his wings more than his manual and returned to the cockpit.
He recounted that landing in New York during the Great Northeast Blackout in 1965 was exciting, but it didn't compare with night carrier landings on the U.S.S. Yorktown.
He traveled the world from his home base in JFK airport.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
