William Nelson Agnew is a decorated World War II veteran, who received a combat infantry medal, a medal of good conduct, and saw three invasions.

In 1941 William wanted to be a "fly boy" more than anything else. The Air Force is where he was headed. But the color blind test squelched his flying dreams. He was told "There are many other things you can do." William replied, "If I can't fly I don't want to join."

One year later, he was drafted into the US Army where he served as a sergeant for two years. In 1947, when the war was over, William's dream became reality! He started flying and received his private pilot's license in 1956. He was one of the few pilots to fly the brand new Taylorcraft airplane made in his hometown of Alliance, OH.

He is a member of the Taylorcraft Flying Club and a 46-year member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and was recently honored with a longevity members' pin. Pipers, Taylorcrafts, and Cessnas were his dream machines and he certainly has earned his wings.
