William S. "Mike" Hunter (b.1917) learned to fly in a high school aviation program at Helena High School in Helena, Montana in 1937. A Navy pilot during WWII, he flew many different types of aircraft, and has been a member of the OX-5 Club for many years. After WWII, he became an air traffic controller, spending most of his career in the Western Region. Mike Hunter was inspired to learn to fly after he shook Charles Lindbergh's hand at the Montana State Fair Grounds in September, 1927.
