Pop-Up Stargazing
Take a look through our telescopes as you’re exploring DC. Join Museum staff on the sidewalk outside the entrance to the National Mall Building on Independence Avenue and see the wonders of the night sky. Experienced people will help you to observe a variety of things, including planets, stars, and the Moon.
This program is presented in conjunction with the Exploring Space lecture Exploring the Moon and Mars: Learning to Work and Live in Space at the Museum. Stargazing is free and open to the public, no tickets required.
The event is weather dependent and may be cancelled due to rain, clouds, and other poor visibility. For last-minute updates, call the Astronomy Education number at 202-633-2517.
