What would you draw to convince someone to travel somewhere new?

Travel posters help convince people to go to new places. NASA even designs posters for far away planets to imagine what it would be like to go there.

What You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils

1. Choose where you want to convince people to go.

A circular planet with cloud like structures evident.

Kepler-22b

This is a planet outside our solar system. Scientists think:

  • This planet is rocky
  • It might be covered in a super ocean
  • It might have a nice temperature, around 60 degrees F
  • It is tilted on its side
The Earth, brilliant blue with swirling white clouds, partly obscured by shadow, stands against a stark sky in this iconic photograph.

Somewhere on Earth

Ideas include:

  • Your hometown
  • Your favorite vacation spot
  • Where the Museum is in Washington, DC and Chantilly, VA

2. Look at these travel posters for inspiration.

3. Think about:

What makes you want to go there?

What would you do when you go there?

Do you need to bring anything special?

4. Draw your poster.

We want to hear from you!
