Print, Engraving on Paper, Hand Colored, L'ATTENTE TROMPÉE. LA PREMIÈRE FOIS PASSE, LA SECONDE DOIT, ET LA TROISIÈME (PAYE)
A print commenting on the experiments of the Swiss clock-maker. Jakob Degan. Between 1806 and 1817 Degan made repeated flights with his ornithopter dangling beneath a balloon. Some other experimenters, notably George Cayley, read accounts of Degan's exploits and assumed that the man had flown without the balloon.
